A Glamourous Night for the New Mobility at the eMove360° Award Ceremony

• Six category winners announced in a festive award ceremony
• International award winners from six countries – Special Award for Rolls Royce Marine

Munich, October 2016 – In the festive setting of the Munich Glyptothek the winners of the eMove360° Award for Electric Mobility & Autonomous Driving 2017 have been announced on Monday night. This international award was presented in the categories Mobility Concepts & Software, Energy Storage, Charging Infrastructure, Powertrain, Automated Driving and Electric Vehicle.

Particularly happy on this special night, that was enchanted by the live performance of singer and entertainer Tobey Wilson, were the eight rewarded companies that proved the international character of the award, as they are based in six different countries: the Finnish company Virta, Daimler, the start-up volabo seated in Ottobrunn in the greater Munich area, TUMCREATE from Singapore, the Swiss technology company eMining, Robert Bosch and Chakratec from Israel. Rolls Royce Marine received a special award for a remotely controlled vessel. Laudator for Rolls Royce was Linda Mieden-Appelboom, Department of Economic Affairs of the Consulate General of the Netherlands. Tobey Wilson also held a laudation speech for eMining as did fellow Ambassador of the New Mobility, the German actrice and singer Nadeshda Brennicke, for TUMCREATE.

“We are very happy, that the new award attracted so many high-quality and innovative applications in its first edition – from not only but Germany but throughout Europe as well as from the US and Asia. We see this as the proof of our award and trade fair concept and it shows that the big question of how we will move in the future is a matter major concern all over the world and encourages people to develop intelligent and innovative solutions and concepts. We cordially congratulate all the winners and finalists“, said Robert Metzger, Managing Director of MunichExpo MunichExpo and organizer of the eMove360° Award for Electric Mobility & Autonomous Driving 2017.

Five winners from Europe and Asia, two German „Blue Chips” – and a start-up with a real Innovation

In the category Electric Vehicle two applications were awarded: eMining was presented the trophy for its 110 ton e-Dumper, that is equipped with the largest vehicle battery of the world and produces more electric energy than it actually consumes, as well as TUMCREATE from Singapore for Leo, a cargo e-scooter for urban delivery traffic. Additionally, Rolls Royce Marine received a special award for Project Sisu, the successful test of the first remotely controlled commercial vehicle.

From the technological point of view, the winner of the category powertrain is a real highlight. The Intelligent Stator Cage Drive (ISCAD) by volabo, a company derived from the University der Bundeswehr in Munich, could revolutionize the electric engine: despite a low voltage, ISCAD offers the opportunity to run high power aggregates, that are lighter, more economic and more sustainable than any other engine available, as it uses neither Copper nor Rare Earths.

Daimler won with its inductive charging solution, that is available in the new S-class that goes on sale next year, in the category charging infrastructure. Virta was awarded for its app-based Smart Charging & Sharing solution, Chakratec for the “Smart Kinetic Energy Storage” which enables fast charging in spots where network power used to be not sufficient. Robert Bosch recieved award in the category Automated Driving for a redundant brake system for the use in level 3 automated driving cars.
