ABB opens global innovation and education campus for machine automation at B&R in Austria

ABB has opened a new global innovation and education campus at B&R’s headquarters in Eggelsberg, Austria. B&R is ABB’s global center for machine and factory automation. The new campus will create up to 1,000 additional high-tech jobs and includes research labs for cutting-edge international research as well as global training facilities for up to 4,000 people annually. B&R is cooperating with several universities for this purpose. ABB has invested a total of 100 million euros in the expansion of the B&R headquarters.

The new campus will be used to develop innovations related to artificial intelligence, machine and factory automation that will play a key role in unlocking new potential in the industrial production of the future – in industries such as electronics, e-mobility, food and beverages, recycling, logistics and even agriculture. The innovations are designed to increase productivity and flexibility. This will enable companies to become even more sustainable and produce closer to their end markets.

Björn Rosengren, CEO of ABB, said, “Innovation has been firmly anchored in ABB’s DNA for more than 130 years. Our B&R division is a true innovation hotspot for the shift towards more automated manufacturing. The official opening of this campus is an important moment for ABB. We are creating highly skilled jobs and shaping the machines and factories of the future together with our customers.” www.abb.com
