Road transport is one of the primary producers of greenhouse gas emissions in the majority of EU countries. In 2022 alone, it caused emissions of over 750 million tonnes. Although trucks and buses only account for two per cent of vehicles on Europe’s roads, they are the second largest source of CO2 emissions in the transport sector and are responsible for 25 per cent of total CO2 emissions from road transport. The logistics and transport sector therefore has a crucial role to play in reducing emissions and combating climate change. The electrification of heavy commercial vehicles offers an effective lever for achieving greater sustainability in the transport sector. In a new white paper, UTA Edenred provides a compact overview of the topic of electromobility for commercial vehicles. It looks at the regulatory framework, market figures for e-trucks and forecast market trends, the cost structures of e-truck use, particularly in comparison with combustion engines, as well as charging technology and charging infrastructure in Europe. The white paper ‘Pioneers of mobility – Discover the future of mobility in commercial vehicles’ is available for free download HERE
