Audi announces the A2 e-tron, its new all-electric entry-level model

In the fall of 2026, Audi will unveil the new A2 e-tron, adding a fully electric entry-level model to its compact class lineup. With the A2 e-tron, which will be manufactured at the Ingolstadt plant, the brand with the four rings is further rejuvenating its model range and expanding access to premium electric mobility. A first design sketch already offers a glimpse of the vehicle’s silhouette.

Audi is taking the next major step toward a fully electric future. At the brand’s Annual Media Conference, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner announced Audi’s new electric model family: the A2 e-tron. “We’ve listened: Our customers want electric mobility that delivers in everyday life. The A2 e-tron is our promise to deliver exactly that—efficient, compact, and confident. We’re making the entry into the electric Audi world easier and more relevant than ever,” says CEO Gernot Döllner.

A New Chapter in the Compact Premium Segment

The market for compact electric vehicles continues to grow—especially in major European cities. With the new A2 e-tron, Audi is specifically targeting a broad international customer base that values urban practicality, sustainability, high efficiency, and digital connectivity. The A2 e-tron strengthens a younger, clearer, and increasingly electric portfolio, making the entry into the brand more modern and relevant for new target groups. The model designation deliberately ties in with the Audi A2, which was considered a pioneer of efficiency and urban mobility over 25 years ago. The new A2 e-tron consistently carries this legacy into the electric age.

Production at the Ingolstadt plant

The Audi A2 e-tron will be produced as another fully electric model series at the company’s German home base in Ingolstadt, underscoring Audi’s commitment to transforming its plants in Germany and Europe. “The A2 e-tron is central to our brand and also to Germany as a production location. By producing an additional all-electric model family in Ingolstadt, we are securing jobs and delivering e-mobility ‘made in Germany,’” emphasizes Döllner.

Continuation of the model offensive

With over 20 new models launched in 2024 and 2025, Audi now boasts the youngest portfolio among its competitors—ranging from the all-electric compact segment to the luxury class. In 2026, the company will continue on this course. The focus is on two model lines that strategically round out the portfolio at both the top and bottom ends: the Audi Q9 at the top and the Audi A2 e-tron in the compact segment.

First design sketch reveals silhouette

The new Audi A2 e-tron will celebrate its world premiere this fall. In addition to the name, a design sketch already reveals the silhouette of the upcoming compact vehicle.
