On August 15, Dr. Thomas Meiers will assume the position of Chief Compliance Officer of BayWa AG. In this role, he will not only be responsible for all compliance-related matters, but will also head the newly created Office of the Supervisory Board and report directly to Dr. Frank Hiller, Chairman of the Board of Management of BayWa AG. Dr. Thomas Meiers brings extensive experience – particularly in the compliance and governance environment – from the Volkswagen Group. There, he was responsible for these issues for many years at various Group companies. Previously, he worked in the legal department of General Electric, among other roles. Meiers began his career at the law firm Freshfields.
“With Dr. Thomas Meiers, we are strengthening the compliance department and will give the topic even greater importance with this new appointment. Furthermore, we are supporting the necessary cultural change at BayWa. This is a clear sign of more responsible and transparent action,” said Dr. Frank Hiller, Chairman of the Board of Management of BayWa AG. “General Counsel David Merz will focus on advising the Management Board and the operational divisions on all other legal matters, such as the restructuring, which he and his team have been excellently supporting, and the legal support of M&A projects,” said Hiller.
