Bilbobus reinforces its fleet with the first electric bus Irizar ie tram

With the Irizar ie tram – an emission-free electric bus with a tram look – Bilbao is expanding the six units in its existing e-bus fleet. The Irizar ie tram is 12 meters long, has 43 seats, 2 wheelchair areas and 4 PEM seats. The city bus is powered by the latest generation of batteries from the Irizar Group with 430 kWh of energy. The e-bus is charged in the hangars at night.

The City of Bilbao is taking another step to meet the commitments made in its Sustainable Public Transport Plan (Plan de Movilidad Urbano Sostenible – PMUS). The new electric bus will be used on line 62, which runs every day between San Mamés and Arabella.

“We’re really happy to have this vehicle in town. We believe that there is added value here, by introducing a new electromobility concept that attractively combines the environmental benefits of more sustainable, efficient, intelligent, safer and more connected public transport with the created wow factor that invites use the city bus.” (Txema Otero, Sales Manager Spain.)
