Bosch Starts a New Era of Urban eBikes with Its First Hub Motor

New Hub Line, compact PowerTube 360 battery and smart connectivity solutions are set to shape the next generation of electric urban mobility

Bosch eBike Systems is expanding its portfolio with its first-ever hub motor, placing a stronger focus on the growing urban eBike segment. Together with the new PowerTube 360 battery, ConnectModule, LED Controller and Intuvia 200 display, the company is introducing a fully integrated ecosystem designed for modern electric city mobility.

While Bosch has long been known for its powerful mid-drive systems, the new Hub Line marks the company’s entry into the hub motor market. Developed specifically for urban riding, the new drive unit combines lightweight construction, discreet integration and smart connectivity.

“With our innovations around the Hub Line, we are ushering in a new era of urban eBikes. They are not only lightweight, agile and characterized by a clear and modern design language, but also revolutionize the riding experience in the city. At the same time, we are making connected eBiking accessible to even more people,” said Claus Fleischer, Head of Bosch eBike Systems.

The Hub Line delivers 45 Nm of torque while weighing only around 2.3 kilograms. With a diameter of just 100 millimeters, the motor integrates almost invisibly into the rear hub. Above 25 km/h, the drive unit fully decouples, allowing riders to enjoy a natural cycling experience with virtually no pedaling resistance.

To complement the new drive system, Bosch also introduced the PowerTube 360. Weighing only around 2.1 kilograms, the battery offers 360 Wh of capacity and a range of more than 80 kilometers in urban use. Thanks to its slim design, it can be integrated almost invisibly into the frame, enabling eBike concepts that are barely distinguishable from conventional bicycles.

Bosch is also expanding its digital ecosystem. The latest generation of the ConnectModule enables more precise bike tracking through a combination of GPS, cellular connectivity and Bluetooth Low Energy technology. The system is complemented by the new LED Controller with USB-C charging functionality and the compact Intuvia 200 display, both designed to provide intuitive operation while supporting the clean aesthetics of modern eBikes.

With these new products, Bosch is responding to the growing importance of electric micromobility. As cities seek more sustainable transportation solutions, eBikes are increasingly becoming an essential part of urban mobility thanks to their efficiency, flexibility and zero local emissions.
