Bosch grows despite challenging market conditions – Electromobility and Energy remain key business areas

German technology and engineering group Bosch continues to grow despite a challenging global market environment. In the first half of 2026, the Stuttgart-based company increased its revenue by 3.6 percent to €46.4 billion. While the automotive sector faces pressure from slower-than-expected electric vehicle adoption, the energy business is expanding significantly.

Electromobility: Growth potential meets market challenges

Bosch’s Mobility division generated revenue of €27.8 billion, down 0.5 percent year-on-year. Adjusted for currency effects, however, revenue increased by 2.3 percent.

The slower global transition to electromobility resulted in €270 million in impairment charges on production facilities, reflecting the gap between earlier market expectations and actual demand.

Bosch’s Energy and Building Technology division recorded a 45.9 percent increase in revenue to €5.4 billion. The acquisition of the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning business from Johnson Controls and Hitachi contributed approximately €2 billion. The division’s operating EBIT margin rose to 7.3 percent, compared with 0.8 percent a year earlier.

The figures highlight the importance of diversification as Bosch expands its activities beyond traditional automotive supply into energy and building technologies.

Investing in future technologies

Despite economic uncertainty, Bosch continues to invest in innovation, spending €3.7 billion on research and development during the first half of 2026. The company confirmed its full-year outlook, targeting revenue growth of 2–5 percent and an operating EBIT margin of 4–6 percent.

Bosch’s half-year results demonstrate how a major German engineering and technology supplier is adapting to a changing mobility and energy landscape: maintaining its commitment to future technologies while navigating the challenges of the electric mobility transition.
