BYD, one of the leading manufacturers of electric vehicles, can look back on an extremely successful year in 2025. Led by a new management team, BYD Germany not only achieved impressive registration figures and market share. In establishing a comprehensive sales and service network, it also managed to find outstanding new partners in record time. A look back.
The successes of BYD Germany can be summarized in three figures:
708, 150, and 11.
In detail:
• New BYD registrations in Germany rose by around 708 percent last year, from just under 3,000 in 2024 to 23,360 (as of December 31, 2025).
• The number of sales and service locations grew from 26 in 2025 to 150 today – and the trend continues to rise significantly. Never before in the history of the German automotive industry has such a high-quality network been established at such a rapid pace.
• BYD’s product range now comprises eleven models at the end of the year, including eight pure electric (BEV) and three super hybrid DM-i (PHEV) models. Four new models were added in the past year alone: ATTO 2, DOLPHIN SURF, SEAL 6 DM-i, and ATTO 2 DM-i. Thanks to this model diversity, BYD covers 90 percent of all relevant market segments from A to E.
“This extraordinary success is primarily due to the strong commitment of our sales force and the tremendous dedication of our entire team,” said Lars Bialkowski, Country Manager of BYD Germany since June 2025, commenting on the figures. “A growth in registrations of over 700 percent, the establishment of a nationwide network of 150 sales and service locations in record time, and a product range that has grown to eleven models show what is possible when everyone pulls together. Together, we have established BYD as a relevant supplier in the German market in a very short time.”
Patrick Schulz, Commercial Director at BYD Germany since February 2025, adds: “Our dealerships have achieved extraordinary things in 2025. With a high level of professionalism, close market proximity, and tremendous speed, new locations have been established, models have been successfully launched on the market, and customers have been won over to BYD. This growth is clear proof of the strength and commitment of our partners – and of the great trust they invest in our brand every day.”
The plug-in models, known as “Super Hybrid” and “Dual Mode Intelligent” (DM-i) at BYD, were particularly successful. In November 2025, the BYD SEAL U DM-i topped the German registration statistics for plug-in hybrids. In addition, the SEAL 6 DM-i TOURING reached fourth place in this ranking in the same month.
“The technology is efficient, and our customers appreciate that. The SEAL U DM-i made it into the top 10 most registered plug-in hybrids in 2025. A huge success! And next year, we will be offering more new DM-i models for our customers in Germany,” says Fabian Ulbrich, Head of Product at BYD Germany since September 2025, about the success of the plug-in hybrid models.
2025 was also a record-breaking year for BYD: the brand started the year with just 26 dealerships in Germany and is now ending 2025 with 150 signed dealer and service locations – a milestone on the way to the planned expansion to 350 locations by the end of 2026.
BYD Automotive set another spectacular world record in September 2025: the YANGWANG U9 Xtreme hypercar reached a speed of 496.22 km/h on the test track in Papenburg in September – no production car has ever been faster. And on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, the YANGWANG U9 Xtreme set a new record for electric hypercars with a lap time of 6:59.157 minutes.
The first models from BYD’s premium brand DENZA are also attracting a lot of attention, including with the opening of Europe’s first DENZA showroom in the heart of Munich.
Klaus Hartmann, Regional Commercial Director of DENZA since March 2025: “2026 will be a decisive year for DENZA. With numerous new models, led by the Z9GT and the premium van D9, we are consistently bringing our technology, design, and comfort expertise to the road. And we are doing so with both all-electric models and super hybrid vehicles. Our goal is clear: DENZA will establish itself as the new benchmark in the premium segment and offer a real alternative for discerning customers in Germany.”
BYD Germany is keeping its foot firmly on the accelerator for 2026.
At a dealer conference in December, Lars Bialkowski’s team also provided a comprehensive overview of BYD’s next steps in Europe and Germany. These include:
• Start of vehicle production at the new BYD plant in Hungary in the first half of 2026
• The introduction of groundbreaking Mega Flash Charging technology, which allows electric vehicles to charge up to 400 kilometers of range in just five minutes
• The planned installation of 300 of these Mega Flash Chargers by the end of 2026, primarily at German BYD dealerships
• The continuation of the model offensive
• The market launch of the premium brand DENZA in spring
• A comprehensive realignment of the fleet, training, operations, used car marketing, and aftersales divisions
• The relocation of BYD’s German headquarters from Stuttgart to Offenbach
