ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT), a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, today introduced Express Solo, the world’s fastest standalone passenger vehicle charging station. Delivering up to 600 kW of charging power — either to a single vehicle or shared across multiple EVs — Express Solo marks the next generation of ChargePoint’s Express DC fast-charging architecture and sets new standards in innovation.
As the company’s first DC charging station to be available in Europe, Express Solo offers powerful, scalable EV charging in a compact all-in-one design that reduces installation space requirements, lowers construction costs, and shortens charging times. Express Solo delivers approximately 40% higher power density than other DC charging solutions while occupying the industry’s smallest footprint. This makes it ideal for locations where high-speed charging is required in limited spaces, such as urban environments or gas stations. It is also perfectly suited as an initial charging solution for sites planning future expansion.
Express Solo can charge two electric vehicles simultaneously and can be cost-effectively expanded with an additional dispenser to support charging for up to four vehicles. When multiple EVs are connected, Express Solo is the only charging station currently capable of delivering any combination of power levels up to 600 kW per connector. This increases charger availability for EV drivers while enabling higher revenue opportunities for station operators.
“Our Express DC architecture is the key differentiator — not only because of its high power output, but especially due to its economics, efficiency, and flexibility. Express Solo delivers unmatched power density and can integrate energy directly from solar PV systems or battery storage via DC interfaces. It is also modular in design, allowing cost-effective and straightforward system scaling. We are evolving DC fast charging from a hardware asset into a future-ready energy platform,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint.
“For operators planning expansion, Express Solo offers scalable configurations for every deployment scenario. This makes the investment future-proof: drivers benefit from a premium fast-charging experience today, while the stations remain flexible enough for the EVs of tomorrow.”
The Express architecture introduced with Express Solo addresses the four major challenges in expanding DC fast-charging infrastructure: grid constraints, higher charging power demands, reliability, and cost. A portfolio of DC charging solutions will specifically tackle these issues by delivering higher performance in significantly smaller spaces while enabling bidirectional charging and seamless integration with energy storage systems.
The Express architecture is also the first jointly developed solution from ChargePoint and Eaton, the intelligent power management company. This strategic partnership combines advanced charging hardware with fully integrated energy infrastructure to significantly accelerate and simplify EV charging deployment. The result is “ChargePoint Express Grid powered by Eaton” — a system that requires less space and significantly reduces both capital and operating costs compared to conventional DC charging solutions. Express Solo can seamlessly integrate with on-site renewable energy sources such as solar PV systems and battery storage, as well as Eaton’s proven power distribution technologies.
