Finnish technology company Donut Lab introduces DonutOS – a software platform that accelerates the development of electric vehicles and, as “Digital Twin 2.0,” offers a complete virtual replica of real vehicles. Instead of many individual tools, DonutOS combines the entire development process in one environment: teams can design, simulate, test, and prepare vehicles even before the hardware is available. This shortens development times from years to months or weeks and significantly reduces prototyping costs.
According to CEO Marko Lehtimäki, DonutOS also enables smaller companies to develop vehicles with the complexity of large OEMs. The system maps all mechanical, electrical, sensory, and software-based functions completely digitally and allows testing under realistic conditions even before production. The validated software can then be used directly in the real vehicle. DonutOS promotes innovation in start-ups as well as large manufacturers and is based on the modular Donut vehicle architecture. At launch, Donut Lab is offering a Global Innovators Program with early access to the technology, technical support, and special conditions. A release date for DonutOS will follow later.
