Fluctuating prices at different times of the day, a lack of interoperability between providers and high installation and operating costs – these are the issues facing the electromobility industry in Germany. ELECQ, which describes itself as the ‘Apple of charging infrastructure’, is tackling these challenges with dynamic load management, better utilisation of charging points and specially developed hardware that can be installed and maintained quickly and cost-effectively. The aim is to create a fast-charging network in Germany that covers both rural and urban regions. One million new charging points are therefore to be created in Germany by 2030. This corresponds to a tripling of the current stock. Fast-charging points in particular are gaining in relevance and contributing to the acceptance of electric vehicles.
More charging power, less energy consumption
ELECQ addresses these requirements with a range of solutions specially designed for the public sector. The charging products are characterised in particular by zero granularity: While conventional systems usually distribute energy in fixed units, ELECQ’s hardware is able to utilise every single kilowatt efficiently and distribute it flexibly to different charging points. Thanks to their modular design, ELECQ’s AC and DC charging solutions are particularly easy to install. This saves costs and significantly reduces repair and maintenance times. The hardware is complemented by a comprehensive range of software: the Elecq App for end users, the Elecq Partner App for installers and the cloud-based SaaS solution Elecq Cloud for the remote management of charging infrastructure. The latter makes it possible to plan installations, configure devices, analyse charging data and carry out remote diagnostics in the event of faults.
With the ELECQ app, users can plan their charging time and choose from three charging modes:
– Only Solar – only electricity from PV systems, even if the charging process takes longer.
– Solar Priority – favours solar power and supplements with grid power if required.
– Unlimited – speed takes priority, regardless of the energy source.
The app compares the usage behaviour with the selected mode and adjusts the charging process accordingly. This means that energy consumption can be reduced in a targeted manner at times of high grid loads – which is easy on the wallet and the power grids. According to ELECQ, up to 30 per cent of energy costs can be saved in this way.
