Electric Urban Car Family: Volkswagen’s small car family starting at 25,000 euros

The Volkswagen Group announces the “Electric Urban Car Family.” Starting in 2026, the family will consist of two Volkswagen models and one model each from CUPRA and Škoda, with a starting price of around €25,000. The Group aims to tap into new market segments and buyer groups.

The models are based on the further developed MEB+ electric platform and are characterized by brand-specific features. The Volkswagen Group’s new standard battery cell is being used for the first time, enabling both economies of scale and impressive ranges of up to 450 kilometers. The vehicles also bring premium technologies from higher segments into the entry-level segment. With this vehicle family, the Volkswagen Group aims to achieve a market share of around 20 percent in Europe in the growing electric small car segment – equivalent to several hundred thousand vehicles per year.

The Volkswagen Group’s new model family integrates premium technology into the entry-level segment of electromobility. Highlights include the new generation of Travel Assist with lane change function and traffic light recognition, as well as optional LED matrix lighting. Massage seats and app-based pre-conditioning ensure comfort. Connectivity is also state-of-the-art, with award-winning navigation that offers integrated charging planning, as well as over 100 apps from the App Store. DC fast charging is standard.

The Electric Urban Car Family comprises four fully electric small cars that will be launched in 2026. Volkswagen is presenting the ID. Polo, a hatchback, and the ID. CROSS Concept, an SUV. Both feature the new “Pure Positive” design language. The ID. Polo GTI is the first fully electric model to bear the sporty GTI badge. CUPRA is launching the Raval, a sporty hatchback, and Škoda is launching an urban SUV called the Epiq, which embodies the new “Modern Solid” brand language.
