BYD DOLPHIN SURF
BYD, the world’s largest manufacturer of electric vehicles, has kicked off 2026 with strong sales figures for the all-electric DOLPHIN SURF: In January and February, the innovative city runabout was among the most popular electric cars in Germany.
With a total of more than 2,000 new registrations in January and February, the BYD DOLPHIN SURF has taken the top spot in the sales charts for microcars, proving its competitiveness in the highly competitive A-segment. Furthermore, in February, the city electric car underscored that it has established itself across the entire German electric vehicle segment: For the first time, it made it into the top ten of new registrations for all electric vehicles—with 1,220 new registrations, the DOLPHIN SURF secured tenth place.
Patrick Schulz, Commercial Director & Deputy Country Manager at BYD Germany, says: “With the success of the Dolphin Surf, the 2025 World Urban Car of the Year, BYD is proving that the brand is already a major player in the German market. And it underscores the importance of our all-electric vehicles as a second pillar alongside our successful plug-in hybrids.”
Despite its compact dimensions, the DOLPHIN SURF impresses with its high level of practicality for everyday use: It combines functionality with sporty fun and offers a level of space comparable to vehicles in a higher class. Particularly attractive: The starting price is 22,990 euros. Until March 31, 2026, BYD is also offering its own E-Bonus, meaning that, in combination with the maximum government subsidy, the model is available starting at just 12,990 euros.
