The energy company enercity is expanding the existing charging infrastructure for e-cars for Finanz Informatik, the IT service provider and digitalisation partner of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. A total of 56 additional charging points are being created at the Frankfurt am Main, Münster and Hanover locations. With this expansion, FI is investing in sustainable corporate development and promoting environmentally friendly mobility for its own vehicle fleet and employee vehicles. The newly completed charging points were handed over to FI by enercity on 7 May.
FI already operates 32 charging points at its site in Hanover – the current expansion will add a further 38 charging points there. At the Münster site, 16 additional AC charging points will be added to the existing 24. In addition to the existing eight charging points, two 150 kW DC charging points will be installed for the first time at FI’s headquarters in Frankfurt, which will enable particularly fast charging of electric cars. enercity will take over the operational management of all charging points in this context.
E-mobility strengthens climate protection at Finanz Informatik
“With our charging infrastructure, enercity is supporting Finanz Informatik on its path to sustainable mobility. As a mobility provider, we are contributing our extensive experience and expertise to provide customised, future-proof charging solutions – efficiently and precisely tailored to the needs of our customers,” explains Wiebke Kraus, Head of E-Mobility Sales at enercity.
Pietro Montemurri, Head of Central Services at FI, explains: “FI is specifically promoting sustainable mobility, for example by successively converting our entire FI fleet to electric drives. The consistently high utilisation of the existing electric charging stations shows how well electric vehicles are already being accepted. We are now systematically building up further capacity to meet the increased demand. With enercity, we have a partner at our side who is reliably supporting the project.”
The charging stations are available for FI’s pool vehicles and company cars as well as for private cars belonging to employees, guests and customers. Since the charging infrastructure was made available in summer 2022, around 825 megawatt hours have been charged at all three locations. This has saved almost 650 tonnes of CO2 compared to vehicles with petrol engines.
Advantages for companies when they invest in charging infrastructure
Setting up their own charging infrastructure has numerous advantages for companies. For example, charging options for company and private vehicles are increasingly becoming a decision criterion for employees. Operating electric vehicles reduces costs in the long term, both through lower energy prices and lower maintenance costs. Furthermore, the development of charging infrastructure helps companies to fulfil current and future CO2 requirements.
Another advantage: an e-vehicle with a mileage of 12,000 kilometres saves up to 2.6 tonnes of CO₂ per year if it is charged with 100% green electricity – even with the current electricity mix in Germany, this is still 1.6 tonnes of CO₂ that can be saved.
