It is the largest order volume for Liebherr in its 75-year company history: At the MINExpo trade fair in Las Vegas (USA) on 24 September 2024, the Liebherr Group and its Australian customer and partner Fortescue signed a contract that provides for the joint development and subsequent acceptance of 475 Liebherr machines by Fortescue. The order, worth around 2.5 billion euros, includes 360 battery-powered and autonomous dump trucks, 55 electric excavators and 60 battery-powered dozers, which Fortescue will use in its mines in Australia. All of these machines and a large number of the key components and machine electronics installed in them will be developed, produced and later serviced at six of the Group’s sites in Germany, France, Austria, the USA and Australia. The agreement will result in one of the world’s largest mining fleets that operate completely emission-free.
