Foundation stone laid: DEKRA battery test center in Lusatia

The foundation stone was laid today for DEKRA‘s new battery test center in Lusatia. From mid-2025, battery systems for electric vehicles and high-voltage storage systems for other applications will be tested there. The state-of-the-art test center will offer all types of battery tests under one roof. In addition to mechanical, performance and environmental tests, there will also be abuse tests in which batteries are subjected to loads far beyond their normal use. The safety standards at the new facility are correspondingly high. All services are offered during development as well as in the context of homologation, certification, quality assurance and market surveillance. “With the new services, DEKRA is underpinning the status of its location at the Lausitzring as one of the world’s most comprehensive and modern test centers for the automotive industry with a broad portfolio of services from a single source,” says Erik Pellmann, Head of DEKRA Automobil Test Center.

Network of global test laboratories: DEKRA operates a large number of highly specialized test laboratories that specialize in automotive testing and test scenarios. With this network, DEKRA is investing in the expansion of its service portfolio relating to future automotive trends such as C2X (car-to-everything) communication, charging stations, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and open road services.
