Handtmann Systemtechnik: 60 percent longer battery life thanks to multi-level inverter technology

In view of the current challenges in recycling battery cells, optimizing the efficiency and service life of battery systems is of crucial importance. The experts at Handtmann Systemtechnik, together with the developers at BAVERTIS, have succeeded in extending the service life of batteries by up to 60 percent by using MLIT technology (multi-level inverter technology). In addition, the technology, which will soon go into series production, enables any type and form of voltage to be generated directly from the battery using software. Both the motor control and the AC/DC charging options are generated directly from the battery. “Our MLIT-based battery systems offer valuable synergy effects for our customers in the automotive and non-automotive sectors as well as for stationary energy storage systems,” says Robert Fiesel, Head of the Systems Technology division.

As a leading developer with extensive experience in power electronics and software development for this innovative approach, BAVERTIS GmbH from Munich is an important partner. They develop intelligent, modular battery systems that significantly increase the battery life of electric vehicles through a software-controlled battery ecosystem and modular direct inverters. Artificial intelligence and precise battery data from power semiconductors enable a fully software-defined battery system. This not only opens up advantages for electric vehicles, but also new perspectives for the reusability of batteries.

“Handtmann’s slogan ‘Ideas with a future’ also reflects our philosophy,” says Niclas Lehnert, Managing Director of BAVERTIS GmbH. “We want to shape the sustainable future of batteries in the mobility of tomorrow. With Handtmann Systemtechnik, we have a strong partner at our side to drive forward our goals and the industrialization of our technology.”
