DIESS E-Agrartechnik AG, based in Munich, plans to launch a new electric mid-range tractor for farmers and municipal services in 2027. The company, co-founded by Herbert Diess, is relying on a swappable battery system designed to enable near-continuous 24/7 operation.
The new electric tractor is intended to offer a high level of versatility. With two driving directions and compatibility with common attachments — including winter equipment, mowers and loaders — the machine is designed for both agricultural operations and municipal applications.
According to the company, the electric tractor is expected to be fully competitive with comparable diesel vehicles from the first deliveries in 2027. At the same time, DIESS E-Agrartechnik expects operating costs to be reduced by up to 50 percent. For farms, a key advantage could be the ability to use self-generated solar power for daily operations.
In addition to tractors, the company is developing battery swapping stations, solar charging stations, electric attachments and, in the future, autonomous agricultural machinery. According to Herbert Diess, product development is on schedule. The company is currently looking for an experienced executive with an agricultural background to build up its global sales network.
