With the new IONIQ 3, Hyundai Motor expands its electric lineup with a compact hatchback tailored specifically to European mobility needs. The model combines aerodynamic efficiency, intuitive technology and a surprisingly spacious interior – positioning itself as a strong contender in the growing compact EV segment.
At the core of the concept is a new “Aero Hatch” design typology. The streamlined silhouette, with a drag coefficient of just 0.263, balances efficiency with interior space. A long, flowing roofline maximizes headroom for both front and rear passengers, while maintaining a distinctive and modern appearance shaped by Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design philosophy.
“With IONIQ 3, we are bringing the bold design, driving enjoyment and advanced features of the IONIQ brand to a broader range of customers across Europe,” says Xavier Martinet. “Built for real everyday needs, it combines expected segment-leading range with extraordinary levels of space, comfort and practicality.”
Built on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the IONIQ 3 offers two battery options with a projected WLTP range of up to 496 kilometers. Fast charging from 10 to 80 percent takes around 29 minutes, supporting everyday usability in urban and regional environments.
Inside, Hyundai focuses on simplicity and comfort. The flat-floor layout enables a lounge-like “Furnished Space” interior with generous room for five passengers and a class-leading luggage capacity of 441 liters. Technology is deliberately intuitive: the new Pleos Connect infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS, debuts in a European Hyundai model and provides seamless connectivity, digital key functionality and integrated route planning.
Advanced driver assistance systems, including Highway Driving Assist 2 and Remote Smart Parking Assist, further enhance safety and convenience, reflecting the model’s focus on reducing driver workload in everyday situations.
With local development in Europe and production in Türkiye, Hyundai underscores its commitment to the European EV market – delivering a compact electric vehicle that combines efficiency, usability and design in a highly competitive segment.
Innovations like the Hyundai IONIQ 3 demonstrate how electric mobility continues to evolve towards greater efficiency, usability and customer relevance.
