Eichrecht-certified e-flow architecture separates the user interface from charging satellites delivering up to 800 amps
Portuguese charging technology specialist i-charging has received Eichrecht certification for its e-flow solution. According to the company, it is the world’s first certified distributed charging architecture in which the user unit and charging dispenser are physically separated.
The system combines an accessible e-flow control unit with multiple charging satellites, each capable of delivering currents of up to 800 amps. Authentication, meter display, charging information and payment interaction are handled through the central user unit, while the satellites can be positioned independently.
This configuration is particularly suitable for commercial fleets and heavy-duty charging sites where dispensers are mounted overhead, integrated into gantries or installed in locations that are difficult for users to access. Operators can therefore design charging infrastructure more flexibly while meeting both German Eichrecht and European AFIR requirements.

This certification demonstrates that operators no longer need to compromise between regulatory compliance and infrastructure design. By separating the user interface from the dispenser while remaining fully Eichrecht compliant, we are enabling new charging configurations that were previously difficult to implement, particularly for commercial vehicle and fleet applications,” said Pedro Moreira da Silva, CEO of i-charging.
Germany’s Eichrecht ensures that the amount of electricity delivered and billed at a charging station is measured accurately, displayed transparently and can be verified retrospectively. Although it is a German legal requirement, the standard has become an important benchmark for transparent EV charging throughout Europe.
