Toyota Urban Cruiser
With the Toyota Urban Cruiser, Toyota is entering the all-electric B-SUV segment in Europe. Together with the new C-HR+ and the enhanced bZ4X, it gives the brand a strong presence in the European B-, C-, and D-SUV segments. All three electric SUV models feature authentic SUV design, high performance, and Toyota’s hallmark quality, durability, and reliability. The new Urban Cruiser will be launched in Europe in the second half of 2025 and, like other Toyota electric vehicles, will be available in two battery versions.
The front end features the “hammerhead” look and sleek headlight units that represent a new generation of Toyota models, while the powerful rear end with muscular fenders and wraparound light bar conveys strength and stability. The exterior dimensions are slightly larger than those of the Yaris Cross Hybrid, making the Urban Cruiser ideal for urban environments. Thanks to its long wheelbase of 2,700 mm and the sliding rear seat, the Urban Cruiser offers remarkably generous interior space – with rear seat legroom that can be extended to D-segment levels.
The interior design offers typical SUV features such as a low, horizontal instrument panel and a raised seating position that allows for good all-round visibility. The interior ambience can be varied using a lighting system with 12 different color settings.
New electric platform and two battery options: The Urban Cruiser is based on a stable yet lightweight new platform specifically developed for battery-electric vehicles. The structure eliminates cross members in the floor, allowing more space for the battery without compromising interior space. The two available battery options offer a range that easily meets everyday driving needs. The target range of the front-wheel-drive model with a 49 kWh battery is around 300 kilometers, while the larger 61 kWh battery offers 400 kilometers. Those opting for the 61 kWh all-wheel-drive version can travel up to 350 kilometers on a full battery charge. Both batteries use long-lasting and cost-effective lithium iron phosphate technology.
The all-wheel-drive model features an additional 48 kW motor on the rear axle. The AWD model also features Hill Descent Assist and Trail and Snow driving modes for additional support on slippery surfaces.
Pre-Collision Emergency Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, etc.: The Urban Cruiser comes standard with a comprehensive package of advanced active safety and driver assistance features, including Pre-Collision Emergency Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch multimedia display, seamlessly integrated into a single, sleek unit, provide a digital user experience. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enable easy smartphone integration. Premium features include a 360-degree camera, a JBL sound system, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. A glass roof is also available.
