Siemens Smart Infrastructure has signed a contract with Unibuss, one of the leading bus operators in the Oslo area, to deliver the innovative Depot360 managed services solution to ensure optimised operation of the fleet and charging infrastructure. Norway is at the forefront of the global transition to electric mobility, and with this contract Siemens is establishing a Depot360 presence in the country.
Depot360 Managed Services from Siemens is designed to meet the specific challenges faced by electric bus operators, such as the winter weather conditions typical of Norway and round-the-clock monitoring of charging processes. With Depot360‘s smart charging capabilities, Siemens can ensure that vehicles are supplied with the right amount of energy without exceeding grid capacity, while remotely monitoring the buses’ charging status to ensure stable operation and reduced energy consumption. Depot360 is part of Siemens Xcelerator, an open digital business platform that makes digital transformation easier, faster and scalable for customers.
Thanks to the Depot360 AI platform, a team of Siemens experts in the Network Operations Centre (NOC) can use fleet-centric algorithms around the clock to monitor and control the performance of the charging infrastructure. This enables the detection and proactive resolution of problems based on data-driven decisions. Unibuss can further reduce energy costs through load shifting and peak load reduction.
Unibuss, a subsidiary of the Oslo-based transport company Sporveien AS, transports 70 million people a year on 51 bus routes. With 259 electric buses, the company has one of the largest electric bus fleets in Scandinavia.
