Kia Reaches 100,000 Electric Vehicle Sales in Germany

From Electric Pioneer to High-Volume EV Brand

Kia has surpassed the milestone of 100,000 electric vehicles sold in Germany. The achievement demonstrates how strongly electric mobility has developed from a niche offering into a central part of the automotive market. Kia began this transformation at an early stage, launching its first fully electric model in Germany, the Soul EV, back in 2014.

In the first half of 2026, Kia’s electric vehicle sales increased by 87 percent compared with the same period of the previous year, significantly outperforming the overall market. Fully electric vehicles already accounted for 41.9 percent of all new Kia registrations. At the same time, the company has rapidly expanded its portfolio: Around half of its current 15 fully electric models and model variants have been introduced since the end of 2025.

The range now covers numerous vehicle segments, from the compact EV2 and the EV3, EV4 and EV5 to the seven-seat EV9. With the PV5 Cargo and PV5 Passenger, Kia is also entering the market for electric light commercial vehicles. The EV3, winner of the 2024 eMove360° Award in the Electric Car category, represents this strategy particularly well, combining modern design, long range and strong everyday usability.

“Kia’s broad and diverse portfolio is designed to make electric mobility accessible to everyone. The sale of 100,000 fully electric Kia vehicles in Germany shows that we are on the right track,” says Thomas Djuren, Managing Director and COO of Kia Germany.

Kia is also setting a strong benchmark for battery durability. In an analysis involving almost 10,000 battery tests, Kia models retained an average of 96.8 percent of their original battery capacity after 100,000 kilometres, placing the brand first in the overall manufacturer ranking.

From Award Winner to Market Success

This sales milestone demonstrates that award-winning innovations do not only generate technological momentum but can also achieve lasting commercial success. Kia and the EV3 show how design, range, charging performance and everyday practicality can work together to accelerate the acceptance of electric vehicles.
