The Kia EV6 is “Car of the Year 2022”. The 59-strong jury, consisting of renowned automotive journalists from 22 European countries, chose the innovative, all-electric crossover as the overall winner. This is the first time a Korean vehicle has won the title.
Originally, more than sixty models launched in 2021 were proposed for the award. In November, the COTY jury reduced this longlist to seven finalists: Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Škoda Enyaq iV, Cupra Born, Renault Mégane E-Tech and Peugeot 308. That six of the shortlisted models are electric vehicles , underscores the growing importance of electric vehicles in the transition to future mobility.
“It is a great honor to have won the 2022 European Car of the Year award with the EV6,” said Jason Jeong, President of Kia Europe. “It is the first Kia to receive this prestigious award. The EV6 is a groundbreaking development. It was designed from the start to make electric mobility fun, convenient and accessible, combining an impressive range, ultra-fast charging, a spacious high-tech interior and a truly enriching driving experience. The EV6 is an exciting indication of what’s to come in our evolving electrified lineup.” www.kia.com
