The latest software update of the PLENTICORE G3 from Kostal now brings new functions and improvements for more flexibility and greater efficiency. At the same time, the control of the KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3 is now even smarter. With the KOSTAL AutoUpdate, the PLENTICORE inverter is always automatically updated to the latest version – without the system operator having to intervene manually. Once activated, the latest software is automatically installed on the device when an internet connection is available.
These are the latest innovations at a glance:
EEBus for standardised and improved energy management: Thanks to the integration of EEBus, the PLENTICORE G3 from KOSTAL opens up new avenues for efficient communication and control of energy flows. The inverter now provides real-time data for monitoring, enabling adjustments to be made and energy consumption to be optimised. In addition to the monitoring function, the inverter can also be controlled by external energy management systems – which promotes intelligent and flexible energy management. In this way, EEBus communication makes energy management more efficient and adaptable to the needs of users.
New control options in accordance with §14a EnWG: The digital inputs of the PLENTICORE G3 now enable power limitation in accordance with §14a EnWG. Installers can use an FNN control box to set the inverter’s input power to 4.2 kW, which enables flexible adjustment of the generation and charging power. This box replaces the older ripple control signal receiver and supports intelligent and efficient energy management as well as more flexible control options. The generation output can be set in steps of 0%, 30%, 60% or 100% and battery charging from the grid can also be reduced.
Cost savings through dynamic electricity tariffs: With the latest software update, the PLENTICORE G3 will also be able to use dynamic electricity tariffs in future to optimise battery charging and minimise electricity costs. This feature makes it possible, for example, to charge the battery during the most favourable electricity tariff times, which can save costs. This connection between KOSTAL inverters and the use of dynamic electricity tariffs offers a practical solution for increasing the economic efficiency of the energy supply without compromising the security of the energy supply.
Extended battery settings for backup operation: With the update, the PLENTICORE G3 now also offers extended battery settings that enable optimised backup operation. This includes the ‘Alternative times’ setting for the minimum battery state of charge (SoC), which provides greater reserves, especially in the winter months. In addition, during backup operation, the storage system is specifically discharged to a defined SoC and then charged to a starting SoC before backup operation is continued. For situations in which immediate battery utilisation is required, it is also possible to switch off the battery sleep mode.
Integrated tie switch for more safety: The PLENTICORE G3 is now equipped with an internal tie switch function that provides additional safety by automatically disconnecting the inverter from the grid when grid conditions require it. This function is particularly important in order to be able to react to rapid changes in the grid and protect the system. The centralised NA protection activates the disconnection when required, enabling safe and reliable operation under all conditions. This safety function is a decisive advantage for grid integration and hardware protection.
Modernised web design for intuitive operation: KOSTAL has comprehensively modernised the web design of the PLENTICORE G3 to ensure even better user-friendliness. The new design is not only visually appealing, but also functionally well thought-out. The menu structure has been revised and the language selection, settings and notifications have been placed at the top of the web server for quick access. In particular, the optimised display for mobile devices, which makes monitoring and operating the PV system simple and effective even when on the move, has been redesigned.
