LOCIO: Intelligent charging adapter simplifies digital billing of electric company cars at home

The Munich-based tech startup for digital charging solutions, LOCIO GmbH, is expanding its hardware portfolio: Following the intelligent LinkOne charging cable, it is now launching the smart LinkTwo charging adapter. These two products provide companies with a software-based billing solution for all home charging stations for the first time. LinkTwo now also seamlessly integrates wallboxes with permanently attached charging cables – a significant advance for the electrification of fleets and company car drivers. The LOCIO solution records the power consumption of each charging session, regardless of location and hardware. This allows charging sessions at home to be billed easily, securely, and transparently through the employer. Existing employee hardware can be integrated in less than five minutes without the need for a qualified electrician.

Previously, the LinkOne charging cable could be used to integrate wallboxes with a Type 2 socket. However, since many wallboxes have a permanently installed Type 2 charging cable, LinkTwo now expands the possibilities: These can now be integrated just as easily. “Our goal is to provide companies with intelligent and user-friendly solutions that enable easy entry into electromobility,” explains Eduard Schlutius, Managing Director and Co-Founder of LOCIO. “Billing electric company cars at home currently represents one of the biggest hurdles. Regardless of the charging station, we want to offer companies a secure, digital solution so their employees can charge company cars at home. This is the only way to achieve a cost-effective and practical transition to electric fleets.”

The software-based billing process works identically for both products: Charging data is transmitted via Bluetooth to the LOCIO app. This allows the manufacturer-independent device to be used at any charging station – even on models without backend software or an internet connection. Precise consumption measurement is carried out via an MID-compliant meter and supports various company interfaces. Furthermore, no connection to the home network or mobile network is required. Upon request, billing is fully automated and directly to the employee’s account.

Partner to more than 300 corporate fleets: LOCIO filed a patent for LinkOne back in 2021 and has continuously developed its product portfolio since then. More than 300 corporate fleets – including Trumpf SE + Co. KG, dormakaba, and Rödl & Partner – already rely on the innovative solution. With LinkTwo, LOCIO is now reaching another milestone: “Since our founding, we have invested a lot of time in developing innovative fleet solutions,” says Alexander Schmidt, Managing Director and Co-Founder of LOCIO. “Our intelligent charging cable LinkOne has already proven itself in large fleets. With LinkTwo, we can now integrate all charging stations – regardless of whether they have a fixed cable or a charging socket. In combination with our digital products, such as the energy tariff check and automatic reimbursement for company car drivers, we offer an unbeatable solution.”
