Longbow Speedster
British start-up Longbow is challenging conventional automotive development with the unveiling of its first Featherweight Electric Vehicle (FEV): the Speedster. Remarkably, the company has progressed from initial sketch to a road-going dynamic demonstrator in just six months—an industry-first achievement that embodies its philosophy of “Speed of Lightness.”
The milestone was celebrated in London alongside early customers, dubbed “Guild members,” as well as VIPs and collaborators. For Longbow, the event was more than a product reveal; it was proof that a radically streamlined approach to vehicle development can deliver tangible results without compromise.
Traditional OEM development cycles typically span 18 months or more for comparable milestones. Longbow’s founding team—bringing over 15 years of experience at the cutting edge of the electric vehicle industry—has condensed this process to just one-third of the usual timeframe.
According to the company, this acceleration was not achieved by cutting corners, but by rethinking and enhancing every step of the engineering and validation process. All critical development milestones have been met so far, and first customer deliveries remain firmly on track for 2026. Every Longbow model will be designed, engineered, and hand-built in the UK.

Longbow Speedster
Speedster positions itself as a spiritual successor to classic British driver-focused sports cars such as the Lotus Elise and Jaguar E-Type—reimagined for the electric era. Designed from a clean sheet, it prioritises lightweight construction, mechanical purity, and driver engagement over headline-grabbing excess.
Weighing just 895 kg, Speedster decisively establishes the new Featherweight Electric Vehicle category. The bespoke aluminium chassis is engineered for maximum stiffness with minimal mass and is paired with a compact electric motor and innovative module-to-chassis battery technology.
The result is what Longbow claims to be the world’s first truly featherweight all-electric sportscar aimed at modern driving enthusiasts.
Speedster delivers an open-top driving experience combined with accessible performance. It accelerates from 0–62 mph in 3.5 seconds, offers a WLTP range of up to 275 miles, and maintains a strong focus on real-world usability rather than excess power.
Design-wise, Longbow embraces “duality.” A distinctive two-tone paint scheme blends classic sportscar proportions at the front with a modern EV-focused rear, signalling both heritage and future intent.
The Speedster will be followed by a closed-top Roadster variant, broadening the brand’s appeal while retaining the same lightweight philosophy.
The Speedster will start at £84,995 (incl. VAT), while the Roadster is priced from £64,995 (incl. VAT). Reservations for both models are now open, with production volumes deliberately limited to preserve craftsmanship and exclusivity.
Daniel Davey, Co-Founder and CEO, summarises the journey:
“Speedster seems to have struck a chord with enthusiasts. It’s a timeless blueprint with a twist—exactly what the market was missing. Delivering a dynamic demonstrator in just six months is the truest expression of our Speed of Lightness approach.”
With its radical development pace, uncompromising focus on lightness, and commitment to UK craftsmanship, Longbow is positioning itself as a serious new contender in the evolving electric performance landscape—one that puts the driver firmly back at the centre of the experience.
