Chinho Hwang is the new President and Managing Director (CEO) of Kia Germany. The 48-year-old automotive manager with extensive Kia and European experience succeeds Jong Kook Lee, who will take on new responsibilities at the South Korean manufacturer’s headquarters after four years at the helm of the German Kia subsidiary. Together with Managing Director Thomas Djuren (COO), who has been the German head of the importer since mid-2021, and Jungseol Lee (CFO), Chinho Hwang forms the management team of the successful brand, which has almost doubled its sales in Germany since 2010 and has particular strengths in the electric vehicle market.
Hwang started his career at Kia in 2002 at the company’s headquarters in Seoul and was responsible for product and business planning in international markets in various functions – both at Kia and its parent company Hyundai Motor Group – until 2012. In 2012, he moved to the brand’s European headquarters in Frankfurt, which is also home to Kia Germany, and held the position of Sales Coordinator at Kia Europe until 2017. He then took over as head of the team responsible for Western Europe in Seoul, before managing the brand’s business in Poland as President of Kia Polska from 2019. In 2024, he returned to the company headquarters in Korea, where he most recently served as Vice President of the Global Business Planning Group before moving to Kia Germany.
