Polestar is expanding its best-selling model line with the new Polestar 4 SUV, adding more space and everyday usability while retaining the performance-oriented character of the Polestar 4. Production has already started in Busan, South Korea, with first customer deliveries scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The most visible difference compared with the Polestar 4 coupé is at the rear. A straighter roofline and more upright tailgate create additional cargo space and 2.5 centimetres more headroom for rear passengers. Unlike the coupé, the SUV also features a conventional rear window and rear-view mirror, while the digital mirror remains available as an option. Despite the changes, Polestar says only 48 new parts were required to create the SUV variant.
Practicality increases substantially: the Polestar 4 SUV offers up to 1,665 litres of luggage capacity with the rear seats folded and 1,680 litres of storage across the front and rear compartments. Roof rails support a dynamic load of up to 100 kilograms.
Two powertrains are available. The Rear motor version delivers 200 kW (272 hp), accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and offers up to 630 kilometres of WLTP range. The Dual motor version produces 400 kW (544 hp) and 686 Nm, reaching 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds with up to 600 kilometres of range. Both use a 100 kWh battery with DC charging at up to 200 kW and AC charging at up to 22 kW in selected markets.
A particularly useful addition is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L). The bidirectional system can supply external devices with up to 3.3 kW – from power tools and electronics to camping equipment. A new Camping mode combines climate control, entertainment, ambient lighting and access to vehicle functions while parked.
Artificial intelligence is also becoming part of the cockpit. Google Gemini replaces traditional command-based voice interaction with more natural conversations, contextual understanding and multi-step requests. Gemini Live can additionally support activities such as trip planning, brainstorming and real-time translation.
Polestar has also focused on recycled and lower-carbon materials. The company states a cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of 20.2 tCO2e for the Rear motor and 21.1 tCO2e for the Dual motor version, making the SUV one of the lowest-carbon models in the current Polestar line-up.
German prices start at €57,900 for the Rear motor and €65,900 for the Dual motor. The Performance pack, including active ZF dampers, Brembo brakes and 22-inch wheels, starts at €76,300.
