With the new model year, Peugeot is officially expanding its Rifter range – but a glance at the price list reveals a clear imbalance. Gasoline and diesel models are particularly attractively priced, while electric mobility in the Rifter continues to command a significant premium.
The entry-level model in the series starts at €26,670 for the gasoline version, with diesel models starting at €27,270. The fully electric E-Rifter, on the other hand, starts at €38,220. This means that the price difference is more than €11,000 – a gap that is difficult to justify for many buyers in the hard-nosed family and commercial vehicle segment.
Although the E-Rifter scores points with modern technology such as a standard 11 kW on-board charger and preparation for vehicle-to-load, range and price remain the decisive hurdles. With a WLTP range of up to 339 kilometers, it is clearly tailored for urban use, while the cheaper combustion engines are perceived as a more universal solution.
Nevertheless, Peugeot is sending a positive signal: in the public perception, the E-Rifter is clearly in the foreground. If you search for “Peugeot Rifter” on Google, the electric version is prominently displayed. From a marketing perspective, this is a clear commitment to electric mobility – even if the price list does not (yet) reflect this priority.
The bottom line is that Peugeot is showcasing the E-Rifter prominently in its shop window, but continues to prefer selling combustion engines for economic reasons. The visibility is right—now the price needs to follow suit.
