Renault 4 E-Tech Plein Sud: The Electric Convertible Returns

With the new Renault 4 E-Tech Plein Sud, Renault is bringing fresh air to the compact EV segment. The fully electric convertible version of the new Renault 4 combines the versatility of a modern electric SUV with the freedom of open-top driving, reviving the spirit of the legendary open-air Renault 4 models for a new generation.

The Renault 4 E-Tech electric is already one of the most anticipated new EVs in Europe. With the Plein Sud version, Renault adds a distinctive soft-top variant designed to make every journey more emotional and enjoyable. The electrically operated fabric roof measures almost one square meter and, at 92 x 80 centimeters, offers the largest roof opening in the A- and B-segments. It can be opened or closed in just ten seconds via a button or voice command, even while driving at speeds of up to 90 km/h (56 mph).

Everyday Practicality Remains Intact

What makes the Renault 4 E-Tech Plein Sud particularly interesting is that it retains virtually all the practicality of the standard model. The luggage compartment still offers 420 liters of cargo space, towing capacity remains at up to 750 kilograms, and the flexible interior layout with foldable seats is unchanged. Renault has therefore created not just a lifestyle vehicle, but a fully practical electric car for daily use.

The open roof also has only a minimal impact on efficiency. Powered by a 52-kWh battery and a 110-kW (150 hp) electric motor, the Renault 4 E-Tech Plein Sud delivers a WLTP range of up to 392 kilometers. Compared with the fixed-roof version, range decreases by only seven kilometers. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.2 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 150 km/h.

Advanced EV Technology with AI Support

Beyond its distinctive design, the Renault 4 E-Tech Plein Sud integrates the latest EV technologies, including bidirectional charging (V2L), Plug & Charge functionality, and intelligent route planning. Renault’s OpenR Link infotainment system features integrated Google services and will soon benefit from Google Gemini AI capabilities. In addition, Renault’s virtual assistant “Reno” helps drivers manage navigation, charging, and vehicle functions through natural voice interaction.

With up to 28 driver assistance systems, One-Pedal Driving, and a dedicated EV platform, Renault demonstrates that efficiency, comfort, and driving enjoyment can coexist in a modern electric vehicle.

Open-Air Driving Goes Electric

The Renault 4 E-Tech Plein Sud proves that electric mobility can be both practical and emotional. While many EVs focus primarily on efficiency and range optimization, Renault has successfully reintroduced a sense of freedom and lifestyle into the electric era—without compromising sustainability.
