An Audi A6 Sportback e-tron in Glacier white metallic is parked in the harbor of the Norwegian city of Bergen. Historic buildings and a fishing boat are in the immediate background.
Three countries, one thousand kilometers: fully electric through Denmark, Sweden, and Norway in the A6 Sportback e-tron performance — across vibrant cities, scenic bridges, breathtaking waterfalls, national parks, and fjords.

Copenhagen is a charming city — in love with beautiful design, full of pioneering architecture, and remarkably sustainable. This is where our journey begins, quite literally powering upstream! Our route takes us from Copenhagen, Denmark, to Bergen, Norway — more than 1,000 kilometers away.
The first leg takes us almost silently eastward from Copenhagen across the world’s longest cable-stayed bridge and through the nearly four-kilometer-long Drogden Tunnel. Together with the island of Peberholm, they form the Öresund connection — a spectacular combination of bridge, island, and tunnel that offers a first taste of what lies ahead over the next two days.
“Farvel” — goodbye, Denmark — and “Hej,” Sweden. Heading north, we pass Helsingborg, Halmstad, and Gothenburg before the A6 Sportback e-tron performance suggests its first charging stop after around 470 kilometers. The intelligent charging planner recommends the ideal and shortest stop on the route, in Strömstad. A 350 kW fast-charging station feeds 27 kWh into the battery in just seven minutes. The coffee hasn’t even reached the bottom of the cup before the charge is already enough to reach Oslo, 140 kilometers away.
From the Bang & Olufsen sound system with speakers integrated into the headrests, Sweden’s finest export ABBA fills the air with one catchy tune after another. A little later, my passenger passes the time watching YouTube on the 10.9-inch front passenger display. For those behind the wheel, this visual entertainment isn’t a distraction — thanks to Active Privacy Mode, the display isn’t visible from the driver’s seat while driving.
Calmly toward the day’s destination, Oslo:
It takes us about seven hours to cover the 600+ kilometers from Copenhagen to Oslo — mission accomplished. For the night, we stay at a hotel atop the most famous hill in Norway’s capital: Holmenkollen. Nearby stands the world’s oldest ski jump, where athletes have been chasing distance records since 1892. Our curiosity is piqued — we want to learn more about the history of this venerable site and about Oslo itself, so we ask ChatGPT, integrated into Audi’s self-learning digital assistant, the Audi assistant.
Final stage of the road trip – Bergen awaits:
Day two dawns, and we’re full of anticipation for the next leg, from Oslo to Bergen. The highway gives way to winding country roads. The navigation system estimates around four hours to our next waypoint. On these roads, the A6 Sportback e-tron performance truly shows off its dynamic handling and stability, thanks to rear-wheel drive. With its specially developed front axle and refined suspension kinematics, it precisely carves along Norway’s beautiful, winding roads. The adaptive air suspension, set to Dynamic mode in Audi Drive Select, shines in its natural environment with sporty handling.
The winding drive pays off: just two and a half hours west of Oslo, we reach the Hardangervidda, Europe’s largest mountain plateau. Equally spectacular are Vøringsfossen, perhaps Norway’s most famous waterfall, and the Eidfjord — pure delight!
Far from the big cities, range anxiety could be a concern — but not in Norway. While Norwegians were almost exclusively driving combustion vehicles fifteen years ago, today about 92 percent of all cars are fully electric. Another five percent are hybrids or plug-in hybrids. Combustion engines and diesels hardly appear in registration statistics anymore. The charging infrastructure is equally impressive — the Nordic country has continuously expanded it in recent years.
At kilometer 855, we make one final quick charging stop before the last stretch to Bergen. Highlights include the Hardanger Bridge (202 meters high and 1,380 meters long) and the Vallavik Tunnel, stretching over 7,700 meters. Driving through the tunnel, the A6 Sportback e-tron performance’s lighting innovations truly shine: the second-generation digital OLED taillights, active digital light signatures, individually switchable light patterns, and communication lights.
“The precision and dynamic quality of these lights are impressive,” enthuses one participant. “The lighting technology of the A6 Sportback e-tron not only defines Audi’s signature on the road but likely contributes significantly to greater road safety.”
It’s early evening, and the next sign reads in bold letters: Bergen.
More than 1,000 kilometers completed — the instrument cluster shows only a few kilometers left to the city center. The Adaptive Cruise Assist helps us accelerate, brake, maintain speed and distance, and stay centered in the lane. Surrounded by mountains and fjords, one question remains: Which is more beautiful — the car or the city?
After such an impressive journey, everyone will answer that question in their own way. For us, it’s time to head back — powering downstream.
