Fast charging when buying furniture: Eliso equips Segmüller stores

eliso is launching a nationwide collaboration with the long-established company Segmüller. All of the furniture store’s locations are to be gradually equipped with fast-charging infrastructure. The first two fast-charging points, each with a charging capacity of 200 kW, have already been put into operation at the Segmüller furniture store in Mannheim. According to the Federal Network Agency, the total number of charging points in Germany is 161,686. The retail sector in particular plays a key role here, as charging and shopping time are ideally suited to each other. According to industry estimates in the EHI white paper ‘Electric Mobility in Retail 2025’, 15 percent of all public charging points are already installed in retail parking areas – and the trend is rising. Segmüller is now also contributing to this. As part of the partnership with eliso, the furniture store’s branch locations are to be gradually equipped with fast-charging infrastructure – one location in Baden-Württemberg, three in Bavaria and two more in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. ‘The development of charging infrastructure at Segmüller locations is an important step for us in integrating charging services more closely into people’s everyday lives and thus making electric mobility more attractive,’ says Julian Fahr, team leader for project development at eliso.

The first location in Baden-Württemberg is already in operation. Electric car drivers can now shop at the Segmüller furniture store in Mannheim and charge their electric cars at two fast charging points at the same time. The integrated credit card terminal and the option of ad hoc charging via smartphone make it easy to use without a long-term contract. ‘The new charging location is also an important hub for commuters, as it is easily accessible between the B38a and the A6, directly at the Mannheim motorway junction in the Neuostheim district,’ says Julian Fahr. With this partnership, eliso is not only further expanding its Germany-wide charging network, but also specifically strengthening its location portfolio in the furniture retail sector. The company has previously equipped the Möbel Rieger stores in Heilbronn and Wohnwelt Rheinfelden with charging infrastructure.
