About Dr.-Ing Ulrich Ehmes
Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Ehmes is a seasoned executive and technology leader with a strong track record in scaling battery innovations from advanced materials to industrial production. With more than 15 years of CEO experience in the energy storage sector, he has guided multiple companies through commercialization, international expansion, and deep-tech product development.
Since 2021, he has been CEO of theion Batteries, a Berlin-based deep-tech company pioneering crystal lithium-sulfur batteries that promise major improvements in sustainability, performance, and cost for next-generation electric mobility.
Before joining theion, Dr. Ehmes served, among others, as:
CEO, Battrion AG (2020–2022)
Led the growth and industrialization of Battrion’s battery electrode fabrication technology, focusing on improved charging performance and scalable manufacturing.
CEO, Leclanché SA (2010–2014)
Oversaw one of Europe’s earliest lithium-ion cell producers, driving R&D, production development, and strategic partnerships in e-mobility and stationary storage.
He also holds advisory and board roles in innovative energy storage startups and mobility technology companies.
