About Patrick Zank
Patrick Zank is a Senior Consultant and Project Engineer at VDE Renewables, specializing in battery and energy storage systems. He holds a degree in industrial engineering with a focus on materials science. Since joining VDE in 2020, he has led technical due diligence for Battery Energy Storage Systems, supported system-level consulting projects, and co-published studies on battery technologies and alternative propulsion systems. He has also managed initiatives to develop and establish VDE Corporate Standards.
Patrick serves as an expert at DKE, contributing to international electrotechnical standards, and is actively involved in the Battery Passport consortium, helping shape the Digital Product Passport framework under the EU Battery Regulation.
In his role in Business Development, Patrick acts as Key Account Manager for international industry partners across the PV, BESS, and grid conformity sectors, fostering strategic collaborations and aligning technical capabilities with market needs.
He is also a frequent speaker and trainer at international conferences and industry events, sharing insights on energy storage technologies, quality assurance, regulatory frameworks, and digital product data systems.
