Lightweight Coolant Hoses made of TPE for the Thermal Management in eMobility Applications
Electric vehicles require several fl uid cooling circuits as part of sophisticated thermal management concepts. For this application, Continental now introduces hose lines made of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). The design features two thin layers of extruded TPE together with a reinforcement layer made of a thermoplastic yarn, which is produced in a fully integrated in-line extrusion process. They off er low weight, superb chemical resistance and inherent abrasion resistance. Excellent noise, vibration and harshness behavior, recycling possibilities and cost saving potentials of up to 30% are further main advantages. TPE coolant hoses will be industrialized with two major OEMs on electric platforms with start of production in 2022.

Fahrzeuge mit elektrischem Antrieb verfügen über ausgefeilte ThermomanagementSysteme mit oft mehreren FluidKreisläufen. Für diese Anwendung bringt Continental Leitungssysteme aus thermoplastischen Elastomeren (TPE) in den Markt. Der zweischichtige Aufbau aus extrudiertem TPE und einer textilen Verstärkung aus thermoplastischem Garn wird in einem vollintegrierten Extrusionsprozess gefertigt. Die Schläuche bieten geringes Gewicht, sehr gute chemische Beständigkeit und inhärente Abriebfestigkeit. Weitere Vorteile sind exzellente Schwingungseigenschaften, die Möglichkeit zum Recycling sowie Kostenvorteile von bis zu 30%. Die neuen TPELeitungen werden mit zwei namhaften OEM
auf elektrischen Fahrzeugplattformen im Jahr 2022 in Serie gehen.
