Sustainable underbody shielding by Mercedes-Benz
To promote the circular economy, Mercedes-Benz and its project partners HKS, MOCOM and Autoneum have developed a sustainable underbody shielding made from PP-GF20 for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The thermoplastic material is made from 100% end-of-life vehicles (shredder light fraction, HKS). By changing the material (MOCOM), the CO2 footprint could be reduced by around 40 %. The LFT-D process at Autoneum enables efficient component production.
