2G Lightweight Handle
Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH developed a thick-walled ergonomic handle with soft-touch surface by combining co-injection molding and foam injection molding. Compared to the state of the art handle, where a compact carrier is overmolded by a compact soft-touch component (2-step-process), the developed production method is a 1-step process. Furthermore, the core component is foamed. This leads to up to 50 % weight reduction compared to the state of the art. Thus, less material is used, which leads to economical and ecological advantages.
Der Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH ist es erstmalig gelungen, durch Verfahrenskombination von Co-Injektion und Schaumspritzgießen einen dickwandigen, ergonomischen Griff mit haptisch ansprechender Oberfläche umzusetzen. Im Gegensatz zum Stand der Technik, bei dem eine kompakte Trägerstruktur mit einer kompakten Weichkomponente überspritzt wird (zweistufiger Prozess), ist die neuartige Herstellungsmethode einstufig. Durch die Einbringung von Treibmittel in die Schmelze der Kernkomponente wird diese geschäumt. Somit kann bis zu 50 % des Gewichts im Vergleich zum Bauteil nach dem Stand der Technik reduziert werden, wodurch der geringere Materialeinsatz zu wirtschaftlichen und ökologischen Vorteilen führt.
