The fan manufacturer Ziehl-Abegg is utilising its position as a leader in the technology of Biomimicry. To further reduce CO2 consumption, the humpback whale served as the model for the latest composite material fan development which also incorporates Biomimicry features of owls and trees. The new centrifugal impeller possesses features of three completely different approaches to Biomimicry: from both aerodynamics (ornithology) and hydrodynamics (marine biology) and biomechanics (trees). This improves the carbon footprint equally in two ways: through a significant reduction in the material used as well lower energy consumption when operating in climate control equipment and industrial ventilation systems.
Der Ventilatorenhersteller Ziehl-Abegg nutzt seine Stellung als Bionik-Technologieführer, um den CO2-Verbrauch weiter zu reduzieren: Bei der Neuentwicklung eines Kunststoff-Ventilators stand der Buckelwal Pate. Dazu kommen bionische Aspekte von Eule und Baum. Das neue Radiallaufrad weist Merkmale von drei völlig unterschiedlich bionischen Ansätzen auf: sowohl von der Aerodynamik (Vogelkunde) als auch von der Hydrodynamik (Meeresbiologie) und der Biomechanik (Bäume). Dies verbessert den CO2-Fußabdruck gleich zweifach: durch eine signifikante Reduzierung des verwendeten Materials und durch eine Senkung des
Energieverbrauchs im laufenden Betrieb in Klimazentralgeräten und bei Industriebelüftungsanlagen.
