As an official partner of the Tour of Austria, the Austrian logistics company Gebrüder Weiss is deploying a fully electric lorry for the first time. The Mercedes eActros 600 is part of a new fleet of e-trucks with which the company is gradually decarbonising its transport operations in Austria. “The tour is a stage for top sporting performance – and for innovative logistics. The use of e-trucks is a concrete contribution to the climate-friendly future of our industry,” says Klaus Bannwarth, Branch Manager Wels at Gebrüder Weiss. The company also uses four trucks with the alternative fuel HVO 100, which emits up to 90 per cent less CO₂ than diesel, as part of its tour logistics operations. Gebrüder Weiss has been supporting the race with its logistics infrastructure since 2018 – from setting up the route to transporting materials across Austria. “We ensure that everything runs smoothly – and increasingly with fewer emissions. Sustainability has long been part of our core business,” says Bannwarth.
