With the bZ4X, Toyota launched its first all-electric vehicle in 2022, laying the foundation for a new generation of fully electric SUVs. The model combines all-wheel drive capability, efficient powertrain, and Toyota’s signature durability. With more than 150,000 units sold, the bZ4X is now one of the three most popular electric SUVs in its class in Europe.
The model is now undergoing a comprehensive technical and visual overhaul. Toyota deliberately avoids referring to this as a classic model update: the electric powertrain has been fundamentally modernized, the battery options expanded, and the interior concept redesigned.
Two new batteries, greater range, faster charging: Toyota will offer the bZ4X with two battery sizes in the future: 57.7 kWh and 73.1 kWh. This will give customers more choice between range and price. Toyota offers a battery warranty of up to ten years or 250,000 kilometers on both variants, guaranteeing at least 70 percent of the original capacity.
The top-of-the-range model will feature a 22 kW on-board charger, which will significantly reduce charging times at AC charging stations. The new batteries themselves are also designed to enable higher charging capacities and increase the usable range.
More efficient electric axles and optimized driving dynamics: The redesigned electric axles—consisting of the motor, transmission, and inverter—are more compact and have lower energy losses. This improves both efficiency and performance. In addition, the chassis and body structure have been modified to reduce noise and vibration and further enhance driving dynamics.
New exterior and completely redesigned interior: The bZ4X has also been further developed in terms of its appearance. The front end, with its so-called hammerhead design, now looks sleeker and more aerodynamic. Inside, Toyota has opted for a new center console, more storage space, and a modernized cockpit. A 14-inch multimedia display is standard.
Market launch in early 2026: The modernized Toyota bZ4X is available from €42,990. The first vehicles are scheduled to be delivered in Germany from January 2026.
