European Commission Expert Group on Cluster Policy
Uwe Pfeil, cluster manager of the Mobility & Logistics and AIR – Artificial Intelligence Regensburg clusters and an experienced networker in the European innovation landscape, has been appointed by the European Commission to the renowned Expert Group on Cluster Policy. The appointment is not only a personal success, but also underscores the high level of recognition for the cluster work from Regensburg at the EU level.
The selection was made as part of a public application process and is based on clearly defined quality and selection criteria.
As a member of the expert group, Pfeil will participate in key discussions on the further development of European cluster policy. The aim of the group is to stimulate European competitiveness, promote knowledge transfer, and strengthen innovation ecosystems throughout Europe.
The Mobility & Logistics and AIR – Artificial Intelligence Regensburg clusters are projects run by the municipal company TechBase Regensburg GmbH. Managing Director Alexander Rupprecht congratulates: “This appointment is a strong signal of the excellence of our cluster work. It shows that what is being developed here in Regensburg is perceived as exemplary throughout Europe.”
Pfeil brings more than 15 years of experience in cluster development and management to the table. He was named European Cluster Manager of the Year in 2020. Most recently, he was responsible for EU-funded projects such as Drive2Transform, which supports SMEs in the automotive industry through change. The Mobility & Logistics cluster has been awarded the Gold Label of the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI) several times.
Pfeil expressed his delight at the appointment: “I am very pleased to be part of the European Commission’s new Expert Group on Cluster Policy. It is an important body for further developing cluster policy in Europe and contributing our experience from Regensburg.”
The appointment is another milestone in the internationalization and professionalization of the Mobility & Logistics Cluster and AIR – Artificial Intelligence Regensburg, and a recognition of the Regensburg region’s commitment to the European innovation landscape.
