Christine Wolburg will assume the newly created position of Chief Brand Officer of the Volkswagen brand on April 1. She brings with her many years of experience in the automotive industry and in-depth expertise in the development and implementation of pioneering brand experiences. In her new role, Wolburg will assume responsibility for the global brand experience strategy and take the holistic experience of the Volkswagen brand to the next level. In her role as CBO, Wolburg will report directly to CEO Thomas Schäfer. She will also take over as Head of Marketing for the Volkswagen brand from Susanne Franz, who will assume another role within the Group.
Wolburg brings extensive expertise and many years of experience in both the automotive industry and in the development and implementation of pioneering brand experience strategies. Together with her team, she will design the development of a holistic brand experience strategy for the Volkswagen brand and act as the central interface for key areas such as design, vehicle strategy, digital business, and communications. She will also be responsible for the introduction and implementation of comprehensive brand governance across all regions with the goal of creating a consistent global brand experience.
Christine Wolburg completed a degree in business administration with a focus on marketing in Aschaffenburg in 2004. She then began her career at Mercedes-Benz in product management for the Smart brand, gaining extensive experience in sales and marketing within the group. Starting in 2016, Wolburg headed product communications for Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars and Smart in Germany for almost five years. In 2021, she joined Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (Berlin Transport Authority) as Head of Sales & Marketing.
