With the new Volkswagen ID. Polo, Volkswagen finally delivers what many in the industry – and even more customers – have been waiting for: a truly affordable electric car that does not feel like a compromise.

For years, electric mobility in Europe has been caught between two extremes: expensive premium models or small city cars with limited range and usability. The ID. Polo changes that narrative. With a starting price of around €24,995 in Germany, a range of up to 454 kilometers (WLTP), and fast-charging capability as standard, Volkswagen positions the model as a genuine alternative to combustion-engine bestsellers.

Built on the latest MEB+ platform, the compact EV offers surprising interior space, including up to 441 liters of luggage capacity – a figure that rivals vehicles from higher segments. Combined with front-wheel drive and efficient packaging, it delivers everyday practicality rather than niche appeal.

Technologically, Volkswagen also raises the bar in the entry-level segment. Features such as Connected Travel Assist with traffic light recognition, one-pedal driving and Vehicle-to-Load functionality bring capabilities previously reserved for more expensive vehicles into a much broader market. Even optional extras like massage seats or a Harman Kardon sound system underline how far the segment has evolved.

Equally important is the ecosystem around the car. With the new charging solutions from Elli, Volkswagen aims to make public charging in cities as affordable as charging at home – a critical step toward real mass adoption.

The ID. Polo is more than just another electric model in Volkswagen’s growing lineup.
