The Annual General Meeting of Webasto SE elected Andreas Schmitz as a new member of the Supervisory Board at the end of July; the Supervisory Board subsequently appointed him Deputy Chairman of the Board. Schmitz succeeds Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Ziebart, whose regular term of office as a member and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board expired after around five years. Schmitz is an experienced financial expert with proven knowledge of risk management and all aspects of corporate governance.
The banker and lawyer is managing partner of AS Board & Beteiligungs Consulting GmbH and worked for the financial institution HSBC for more than 30 years in various specialist and management positions. Most recently, he was Spokesman of the Management Board from 2004 to 2015 and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG from June 2015 to December 2020. He also holds various supervisory and advisory board positions, for example at E.ON SE, and holds several honorary mandates, including as President of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
