At its meeting on 19 March 2025, the Supervisory Board of ZF Friedrichshafen AG elected Dr Rolf Breidenbach as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board. He succeeds Dr Heinrich Hiesinger, who has been a member of the ZF Supervisory Board since 2021 and its Chairman for the past three years. Born in Bochum, Breidenbach studied mechanical engineering and economics at RWTH Aachen University and holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering. This was followed by positions in industry and in a technical services company. From 1995 to 2003, he worked at the management consultancy McKinsey, where he was a partner for the last four years. From the beginning of 2004 until 2022, he was Chairman of the Management Board of Hella GmbH & Co. KGaA, a global company in the automotive supply industry known primarily for lighting technology and electronics. Breidenbach has been a member of the ZF Supervisory Board since March 2023.
Dr Heinrich Hiesinger has been a member of the ZF Supervisory Board since January 2021 and took over as Chairman at the beginning of 2022, having signalled to the newly elected Mayor of Friedrichshafen, Simon Blümcke, at an early stage that he would not be available for a second term of office after March 2028 due to his personal life plans. It is foreseeable that not all key decisions for the future of ZF will have been implemented by this time. In order to avoid a change in the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board in the middle of this decisive phase of the transformation and to enable a long-term solution now, Hiesinger had offered to make his office and mandate available early. The vacant position on the ZF Supervisory Board is to be filled by Ingrid Jägering, who will soon be elected to the supervisory body by the Annual General Meeting of ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The 58-year-old is currently Head of Finance and IT at the STIHL Group based in Waiblingen. She started her career at Siemens AG in 1986 and has spent her entire professional career in well-known industrial companies – in management positions from the Siemens Group and various subsidiaries to MAN and Leoni to her current board position at Stihl.
