At its most recent regular meeting, the Supervisory Board of ZF Friedrichshafen AG appointed Mathias Miedreich, 49, to the Board of Management of the technology group with effect from 1 January 2025. Miedreich will be responsible for the Electrified Drive Technologies Division. Miedreich has many years of experience in the automotive industry. After graduating in business administration from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Miedreich held various management positions at Siemens, Continental and Faurecia in Germany and abroad for several years. In 2021, he was appointed CEO of Umicore, a global materials technology and circular economy specialist based in Brussels, Belgium. He held this position until May 2024.
The Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Dr Heinrich Hiesinger, commented on the appointment: ‘With Mathias Miedreich, we are strengthening our Board of Management team in a targeted manner, which is doing an outstanding job in these challenging times to realign ZF and make it more competitive. As the future Head of the Electrified Powertrain Technologies Division, he has a special responsibility in view of the requirements that ZF is currently facing in the transition to electromobility. Mathias Miedreich knows our customers, the global value chains and the expectations of sustainable mobility. We wish him every success in his new role.’
As a representative of the Zeppelin Foundation, which holds 93.8 percent of the shares in ZF, its Chairman Andreas Brand says: ‘With Mathias Miedreich as a new member of the Board of Management, we are relying on his expertise in the automotive industry and in the field of electromobility. We are convinced that he will make a valuable contribution to ZF. With his appointment, we are supporting the strategic goals of adapting this division to the requirements of the market and technological developments.’
