Daimler Truck AG and its Japanese subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso Bus and Truck Corporation have delivered the first FUSO Next Generation eCanter from a major order to Yamato Transport Co, Ltd. Yamato Transport’s order of approximately 900 all-electric Next Generation eCanter is the largest single order to date for the FUSO brand’s electric light-duty truck. Delivery of the other vehicles will now take place successively.
Yamato Transport is introducing the eCanter to its fleet in the context of its ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 48% by 2030 (compared to 2020 levels) and to achieve virtually zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Yamato Transport is using FUSO Green Lease, a leasing product from Daimler Truck Financial Services Asia Co, Ltd. exclusively for the new eCanter, to meet the specific requirements of electric trucks. FUSO Green Lease offers a comprehensive and customized eMobility ecosystem, including vehicle maintenance and special warranty services.
The first eCanter was launched by FUSO in 2017 as Japan’s first mass-produced locally CO2 emission-free electric truck. Since 2017, companies in markets around the world have used the eCanter and shared their real-world experiences with FUSO. This extensive feedback was used, among other things, in the development of the Next Generation eCanter, which celebrated its world premiere in 2022. Yamato Transport, one of the very first eCanter customers, took delivery of 25 units of the first generation eCanter back in 2017. Based on the positive experience Yamato Transport has had with the eCanter in home delivery and other logistics services, the company decided to deploy around 900 units of the next-generation eCanter in its Japanese fleet network in the future.
Karl Deppen, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation: “FUSO’s eCanter takes the pressure off the driver by providing safe, low-vibration, zero-emission driving. This has been extremely well received by Yamato Transport, which has already used 25 first-generation eCanter since 2017. We are honored to support Yamato Transport in their efforts regarding carbon neutrality by using our eCanter throughout Japan in the future.”
The next-generation eCanter was launched in early 2023 in various European markets, Japan and several overseas markets. In August, the eCanter celebrated its launch in Indonesia and Chile.
