The Board of Directors of ABB has appointed Morten Wierod as Chief Executive Officer. He will take office on August 1, 2024 and succeed Björn Rosengren, who will step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer on July 31, 2024 and leave the company on December 31, 2024. To ensure a seamless transition, Björn Rosengren will provide advice and support to Morten Wierod and the Group Executive Board from August 1, 2024 until the end of the year.
Morten Wierod (52), a Norwegian citizen, was appointed by the Board of Directors after a careful selection process. He joined ABB in 1998 and has been a member of ABB’s Executive Committee since 2019, currently as Head of the Electrification business unit and previously as Head of the Drive Technology business unit. Morten Wierod holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
